About Aldactone: Aldactone 100mg is a medicine prescribed for the treatment of localized swelling or edema which is usually associated with the congestive cardiac failures, ascites, nephrotic syndrome, malignant ascites and in the treatment of primary aldosteronism. It is the film coated tablets with the active ingredient of Spironolactone 100mg. It primarily acts by increasing the sodium excretion along with the reduction of potassium levels in the kidney. It has a long action on the body for the reduction of edema by performing a diuretic action. It also helps in reducing the further risks associated with the cardiac diseases by 30%. It is manufactured under the trade name Aldactone by Pfizer Healthcare Ireland.
The medicine is strictly prescribed to the patients with hepatic cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome, malignant ascites, severe heart failures and in primary aldosteronism. It is mostly given to adults, but for the children, it is provided under pediatric supervision. It is usually recommended to start with a small dose and based on the patient`s tolerance the dose is increased. It has the shelf life of 5 years and comes in a blister pack of 10 tablets. It should always be kept below 30℃ and protected from the direct sunlight.
