How to use Zymox
Zymox Otic HC 1.0% (Lactoperoxidase/Lysozyme/Lactoferrin/Hydrocortisone) is a type of enzymatic solution which is indicated for the treatment of chronic otitis externa in animals when the symptoms are caused by yeast, fungal or bacterial infections. The combination of enzymes in this otic solution allows it to act against a broad spectrum of microbes, including some of the most resistant microorganisms, and it can also treat bacterial ear infections without the need for antibiotics.
The addition of hydrocortisone helps to treat the inflammation and pruritis commonly associated with ear infections. It has been proven to be effective against escheria coli, streptococcus intermedius, streptococcus pyogenes, pseudomonas, malassezia pachydermatitis (a fungal skin infection), candida albacans (a diploid fungus that can cause infections), proteus mirabilis (a gram negative bacterium), staphylococcus aureus and methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
Zymox Dosage
Other ear cleansing solutions should not be administered before Zymox Otic HC 1.0% (Lactoperoxidase/Lysozyme/Lactoferrin/Hydrocortisone) is applied, as doing so may disrupt the activity of the enzymes and reduce the solution`s effectiveness. It can be applied to ears which are dirty. Veterinarians usually tell animal owners to apply it once every day for 7 days. Chronic infections may require 14 days of treatment. After application, it is necessary to flush the ear.
Zymox Side Effects
Bring your dog, cat or pet to a veterinarian Zymox Otic HC 1.0% (Lactoperoxidase/Lysozyme/Lactoferrin/Hydrocortisone) if it exhibits symptoms of a reaction, as it may require treatment.
Zymox Precautions
This otic solution is a veterinary product, which is only approved for use in animals. It must not be used on humans under any circumstances.
This product must not be used on ear drums which are punctured.
