About Vivitonin: Vivitonin (Propentofylline) is given to elderly dogs to prevent hearing, sight, mental, or physical problems. The medication increases oxygenation, neurological, and cardiovascular function to reduce the severity of aging symptoms such as fatigue, senility, trouble walking, weight loss, or hair loss. It may also increase the appetite and energy levels of the dog being treated while restoring the health of its coat.

How to use Vivitonin


Vivitonin (Propentofylline) is an oral medication given to elderly dogs to prevent hearing, sight, mental, or physical problems. The medication increases oxygenation, neurological, and cardiovascular function to reduce the severity of aging symptoms such as fatigue, senility, trouble walking, weight loss, or hair loss. It may also increase the appetite and energy levels of the dog being treated while restoring the health of its coat. The use of this medication has also been shown to reduce the speed of cataract formation in some dogs.

Vivitonin Dosage


The correct dosage of Vivitonin (Propentofylline) will be determined by your veterinarian based on your dog`s weight, existing conditions, and response to other treatments. The tablets can be swallowed whole or mixed with a small amount of food or hidden in a snack to make administration easier. It is recommended to give the medication on an empty stomach to improve absorption.

Typical dosages are as follows, although they may differ greatly depending on the dog being treated:

  • 0 - 5kg may take 1/2 a tablet a day (split into a 1/4 in the morning, and a 1/4 in the evening)
  • 5 - 8 kg may take 1 tablet a day (a split into 1/2 in the morning, and 1/2 in the evening)
  • 9 - 15 kg may take 2 tablets a day (1 in the morning, and 1 in the evening)
  • 16 - 25 kg may take 3 tablets a day (split into 1.5 in the morning, and 1.5 in the evening)
  • 26 - 22 kg may take 4 tablets a day (2 in the morning, and 2 in the evening)
  • 34 - 50 kg may take 6 tablets a day (3 in the morning, and 3 in the evening)

Vivitonin Side Effects


Vivitonin (Propentofylline) is generally a very well tolerated and will not cause side effects in most dogs. If you observe any unusual or worrying symptoms affecting your dog contact your veterinarian immediately. Be especially cautious about any signs of an allergic reaction such as skin reactions, swelling, lethargy, or difficulty breathing.
