The main and active ingredient in Telma 40 tablets is Telmisartan which belongs to a class of drugs referred to as angiotensin receptor blockers. It works by preventing a hormone known as angiotensin II from functioning. This hormone causes the constriction of blood vessels while also accommodating retention of salt and water in the bloodstream. This, over time, leads to high pressure in the blood which causes risk to a heart attack. Telma 40 (Telmisartan) can be prescribed along with other diuretic medication that aids the body in draining excess water in the blood.
