About Lametec 25 DT:
Lametec 25 DT (Lamotrigine) is a medicine used to cure epilepsy-related symptoms such as seizures. It is an anti-epileptic which is mostly used for partial seizures which are a unique type of seizures. The medicine can also be used as a treatment for other conditions such as tonic-clonic, myoclonic, atypical absence and in children it can also treat Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
How to use Lametec 25 DT
This medicine should be used strictly as prescribed by your doctor. Lametec 25 DT is available in tablets which should be taken at least once in a day. These tablets are chewable and can be dissolved in a teaspoon of fluid for a minute before consumption or taken whole. The treatment duration varies amongst patients, consult your physician for full information on this. Withdrawals from the medicine without approval from the doctor may lead to the development of several severe withdrawal symptoms.
Lametec 25 DT Dosage
For an adult, the typical prescription is a dose of two tablets each day. The time of taking this medicine should be evenly spaced to allow for the effectiveness of each dose. Do not take another person’s dosage of the medicine even if you suffer from similar symptoms. Once prescribed a dosage, do not alter it by taking more or less. Some of the side effects that have repeatedly been reported by patients using the medicine include; diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, lack of sleep, irritability, poor appetite and loss of taste, imbalance and stomach upsets. These should fade away with time but in case they persist or get worse, do not hesitate to call your doctor. Severe side effects rarely reported by patients include; redness of the skin, swelling and development of skin rashes. Call your physician immediately you notice any of these severe side effects.
Lametec 25 DT Precautions
If you suffer from any medical condition or have a history of specific diseases such as heart, kidney or liver failures, blood disorders or such-like diseases, discuss with your physician about the risks of using the medicine. If you have just had or are planning to have surgery soon including dental surgeries, notify your physician and then dentist that you have been prescribed to use Lametec 25 DT. The medicine may also not be suitable for pregnant women, those planning on conceiving or those breastfeeding as it may have effects on your fetus or child, talk to your doctor about the risk factors. This medicine is known to cause drowsiness. It is therefore not encouraged for patients on prescription to undertake any physical activities that require high levels of concentration.
