About Imiquad: Imiquad Cream (Imiquimod) is a medicine that is prescribed to patients suffering from some skin conditions including actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, and anogenital warts. Anogenital warts are small lumps commonly found along the genitals or the anus that are passed on by close sexual contact. Basal cell carcinoma, on the other hand, is a type of skin cancer that is caused by over-exposure to the sun while actinic keratosis defines scaly growths that develop on the skin due to exposure to the sun for long periods. The medicine is classified as an immunomodulator and collaborates with the immune system in fighting skin damage.

How to use Imiquad

It is important to be well trained by your physician on how to use this medicine. If you need to make a quick reference, you can read the manufacturer’s printed information leaflet supplied by the pack or consult your doctor. Imiquad Cream (Imiquimod) is available as cream in two different strengths and should only be applied externally. Always wash your hands and the affected skin area with mild soap and water then leave both to dry naturally. Squeeze the amount prescribed and apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area then massage the cream until it has been well absorbed by the skin. Wash your hands after application to prevent unwanted spread of the cream to unaffected areas.

Imiquad Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe to you a unique dosage of Imiquad Cream (Imiquimod) depending on the condition you are treating and its severity, your medical history, health condition and other medicine that you may be using. For most adult patients suffering from mild symptoms, a typical prescription is a weekly application of three to five times. Each application should be done during the night for effective treatment. The dosage may last for as long as 2-6 weeks depending on your condition and response to treatment. Do not alter your dosage or stop using the medicine irrespective of whether the medicine is effective or not.
