About Cytomid: Cytomid (Flutamide) is a medicine that is used to treat symptoms of advanced prostate cancer. This medicine is palliative and is used to for patients who were found unresponsive to other medicines, are intolerable to other hormonal medicines or have not received any treatment thereof of their condition. The medicine is used as a combination with luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH), a medication that helps in inducing medical castration. This helps prevent the production of testosterone by the testes which contribute significantly to the alleviation of prostate cancer. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine to help reduce flare reaction, which is a condition caused by the release or large amounts of testosterone normally produced as a response of LHRH in the body. The condition may be painful and in advanced cases, spread to other areas other than the prostrate.
How to use Cytomid
Cytomid (Flutamide) should be used by men and only whom the medicine has been prescribed for by a doctor. The medicine is available in the form of tablets that should strictly be used orally. Your physician will direct you on how to take the medicine and in most cases, patients are required to take a dose after every 8 hours for as long as the doctor recommends. You may choose to take the medicine with or without food that is if your physician has not given you specific instructions on the same. Take a glass of water with every dose.
Your doctor may be required to perform medical examinations on you before prescribing this medicine for your condition. This is important so as to determine the right amount of the medicine that will be effective for your condition. Some of the factors that are most commonly examined include your current health condition (weight, appetite and illnesses), your medical history, the severity of your condition and other medicine that you might be using (including prescriptions, non-prescriptions, supplements and herbal products). Do not share your dosage with another patient even if you both suffer from the same conditions as each patient’s dosage is unique to their condition.
