About Topirol: Topirol (Topiramate) is a medication indicated for use by patients suffering from epilepsy, migraines and particular types of seizures. This medicine is not used to cure but to control epilepsy and seizures. Your doctor may prescribe other medication to use for curing the conditions. In some cases, it is common to find this medicine being used as a mood stabilizer or for other conditions not listed here. Topirol works by inhibiting sodium channels that depend on the voltage from increasing the activities of GABA. It also inhibits carbonic anhydrase, an enzyme from reaching the NMDA receptors and this, in turn, triggers a decrease in the nerve impulse transmission which prevents seizures.
How to use Topirol
Topirol (Topiramate) is available in tablets which should be taken whole orally. Chewing, crushing, splitting or dissolving these tablets greatly affects their effectiveness as the drug is meant to be absorbed slowly into the body. The medicine should be taken together with a full glass of water, and this helps minimize the occurrence of its side effects. Not only then, during your entire treatment program with this medicine, take enough water which will help reduce your chances of suffering from kidney stones which the medicine is known to cause. Take your dosage exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
